A
Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) for Radio Road from
U.S. 441 to 1,000 feet north of Jackson Road was completed
in 2004 for Lake County. The purpose of that study was
to identify and evaluate alternative alignments and typical
sections for the corridor, that will meet future traffic
demands. The results of that analysis provided a basis
for the selection of the recommended
improvements for the northern segment of Radio Road.
The Radio Road Improvements have now moved into the Design
Phase. Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is preparing
Final Design Plans for the northern segment of Radio Road,
from Treadway School Road to Jackson Road for Lake County.
These design improvements
|
consist of widening Radio Road from a rural
two lane section to a three lane urban section with center turn lane,
south of Treadway School Road, a divided two lane section with raised median,
between Treadway School Road and Highland Road, a divided two lane section with
flush median, between Highland Road and Jackson Road. The widening will include a curb
and gutter drainage system on both sides of the roadway. The typical section will also include a
5-foot sidewalk on both sides of the roadway. The curve at Jackson Road will be reconstructed to
improve safety and a stormwater pond will be constructed to improve water quality.
A six foot high privacy wall is also proposed on the east side of Radio Road along the Silverwood and
Cove subdivisons.
